Prt. John "Jack" Robson

Prt. John "Jack" Robson, formerly of the Durham Light Infantry, served with No.6 Troop of No.6 Commando from 2nd January 1945.

It is believed that Prt. John Robson was killed in an unfortunate grenade accident on 22nd March 1945, the night before the Rhine River crossing. He was aged 18 years.

John was the son of John Richard and Mary Baxter Robson, of Consett, Co. Durham. He was laid to rest in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery (Kleve, Nordrhein-Westfalen) Grave 62.A.11.

The inscription on Prt. John Robson's grave reads:

'God closed his eyes and gave him rest. We have lost one of the best.'
